A grandes dúvidas só agora começa. De uma lista de centenas de filmes, actores, realizadores ou directores técnicos, os membros da ABCine escolheram os nomes finalistas para a primeira edição dos Lumiere.
Na principal categoria a luta vai colocar frente a frente os quatro filmes com mais nomeações - The Village, Lost in Translation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind e Kill Bill v.2 - mais o filme Finding Neverland. Muito semelhante é a corrida ao prémio de melhor realizador com em que a surpresa é Steven Spielberg que consegue a primeira de duas nomeações que teve o filme The Terminal.
A outra foi a de Tom Hanks na categoria de Melhor Actor onde vai medir forças com Jim Carrey, Bill Murray, Gael Garcia Bernal e Johnny Depp. A luta entre as actrizes será extremamente disputada a ver pelas nomeadas: Bryce Dallas Howard, Naomi Watts, Scarlett Johansson, Kate Winslet e Uma Thurman.
Algumas surpresas marcaram as categorias de desempenhos secundários. Rodrigo de la Serna, Eric Bana e Jamie Foxx ficaram de fora nos actores enquanto que Rennée Zellweger e Kate Winslet foram as grande ausentes entre as actrizes.

Nas categorias dedicadas à lingua portuguesa os destaques vão para Carandiru, Noite Escura e O Milagre Segundo Salomé, os três filmes escolhidos para a categoria principal. Mário Barroso, João Canijo e Hector Babenco foram os realizadores eleitos pelos membros enquanto que Fernando Luis, Rodrigo Santoro e Nicolau Breyner, nos actores, e Rita Blanco, Ana Bandeira e Beatriz Batarda, nas actrizes, foram as eleitas.

Aqui ficam os nomeados finais. Os vencedores serão divulgados no dia 30 de Janeiro.
